Learn why advanced guidance at the bedside will significantly
improve patient outcomes and reduce cost to the healthcare system

Drainage
Common indications for External Ventricular Drains include Hydrocephalus and/or Traumatic Brain Injury
100 Years
Little has changed with this common, but lifesaving procedure for more than 100 years
Free Hand
Results of free hand procedures can vary drastically, in both the final catheter location, number of attempts, and overall procedural time
Increased Cost
This can have a negative impact patient outcomes and increased cost of hospitalization

• According to the World Health Organization, 15 million people suffer from strokes worldwide each year. Of these, 5 million die and another 5 million are permanently disabled.

• Approximately 8% 15% of all strokes are hemorrhagic. Depending on severity, treatment includes intercranial pressure monitoring, introduction of rTPA or “clot buster” and in some cases, clot aspiration.

• To obtain requisite imaging for these evacuation procedures, critically ill patients are transported out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to various locations in the hospital for imaging and then ultimately the operating room. Delays in treatment and removal from the care of the ICU poses risk to these tenous patients.
